DIABETES RESEARCH INSTITUTE FOUNDATION SEEKS DIABETES
DIPLOMATS
The
Diabetes Research Institute Foundation announced today
that they are again seeking applications from school
aged children grades K-12 to serve as Diabetes Diplomats
on Long Island. The Diabetes Diplomats Program, corporately
sponsored by The Roslyn Savings Foundation, is open
to children K-12th grade and they do not have to have
diabetes, they just have to want to help find a cure. DRIF Long Island Chairman of the Board, Barbara
Hatz stated, “This program is amazing.
The feedback and involvement over the initial
2 years has been incredible.
Thousands of Long Island
school children have learned about diabetes and have
also run school events like walkathons or bracelet
sales that helped fund the crucial research needed
to find a cure. We are grateful to the Roslyn Savings Foundation,
Suffolk
Life
Newspapers, Anton Community Newspapers, all of the
school coordinators and all of the children who serve
as Diabetes Diplomats for playing such a crucial role
in the success of this program.”
Children will be able to help their own peers
who have diabetes in a project that is easy, fun and
has great prizes.
The children will serve as lighthouses in each
of their home communities. The DRI is a world leader
in diabetes research and dedicated to finding a cure. The DRI has successfully reversed diabetes in
patients involved in ongoing clinical trials and collaborates
around the world to further these studies.
The deadline for the applications to be returned
to the Foundation is January 14th.
Anyone interested can call the DRI Foundation
